SITC, China's big private logistics firm, posts 10pc box volume increase

SHANGHAI's SITC, China's biggest privately owned integrated shipping logistics company, has posted a 10.1 per cent year-on-year increase in throughput to 849,000 TEU for the first seven months of 2011, reports Xinhua.

 The company's average rate also increased by 11.5 per cent to US0 per TEU during the same period, while its freight forwarding shipments increased 67.6 per cent to 737,814 TEU.

SITC handled 134,265 TEU in July with a 7.3 per cent growth, while the freight forwarder shipment volume grew 19.2 per cent to 113,800 TEU with an average rate of 5 per TEU, up 7.6 per cent year on year.
